Due to the inclement weather, the CSSA Supr 8's Gala Day was moved to St Marys Indoor Cricket Centre.
9 schools participated in the competition. The majority of the students had never played Indoor Cricket before but they soon grasped the rules and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Carinya CS, Tamworth, Pacific Hills, Norwest CS and The Lakes, Central Coast, made it through to the Semi Finals. These games were very competitive. Carinya and Pacific Hills won through to the Final.
In Indoor Cricket, teams bat in pairs and whilst you can score bonus runs, you also lose runs for every wicket taken. Pacific Hills batted first and were unable to set a high total due to the loss of wickets. However Carinya found it hard to score runs and were reliant on their last pair to not lose any wickets and maintain a score to win the game.
A big thank you to the players, supporters and teachers who made this a very successful day.

The schools played 2 games each in 4 Pools followed by ¼ Finals, Semi Finals and the Final. A special mention and a well done to Berowra CS. They are a small school but encouraged their girls to play and as such were able to field a team. All the players from the schools were enthusiastic and for many it was their first competitive cricket game. Many hit their first 6 and took their first wicket. The 4 teams in the Semi Finals were Pacific Hills versus Northcross, and Green Point versus Rouse Hill. The games were close with Northcross and Rouse Hill recording wins. In the Final, Rouse Hill batted first and scored 76 runs. Northcross appeared to struggle at first but finished strongly to defeat Rouse Hill with an over to spare. For Northcross, runners up last year, an excellent effort and worthy champions on the day. A great day for all involved, played in the true spirit of the game.
Final Result: Northcross CS (79) v Rouse Hill AC (75) Northcross CS victors on the day 4 schools, 6 teams competed at Gannons Park, Peakhurst in the Southern Division of the Super 8's Cricket GD. The schools were:
After some early drizzle, the day turned out to be a sunny one and some enjoyable cricket was played. Two teams from Inaburra and Sutherland Shire CS were joined by single sides from William Carey CS and Greenacre Baptist CCS. All schools played in the spirit of cricket and the nature of our schools. The final was played between the top Inaburra and Sutherland teams. Inaburra batted first and scored 54 runs from their 7 overs. In a close-fought match, Sutherland passes the score on the last ball of the last over, finishing with a total of 57 runs. It was a terrific day and I would like to thank all the coaches and parents for making it such a successful one

The schools played 2 games each in 3 Pools followed by ¼ Finals, Semi Finals and the Final. I have been involved in this competition for many years and I would have to say that in nearly every game, right from the pool games to the final, that the final score was not decided until the final over was bowled. A number of games were won by 1 run. The boys were enthusiastic and for many it was their first competitive cricket game. Many hit their first 6 and took their first wicket. The 4 teams in the Semi Finals were Pacific Hills and Carinya and Green Point and Tyndale. The games were close with Pacific Hills and Green Point recording wins. In the Final, Green Point batted first and scored 55 runs. Pacific Hills started slowly and were in some bother needing 22 off the last 2 overs. However some big hitting saw them victorious by 2 runs. This was Pacific Hills 3rd win in a row in this competition. A great day for all involved played in the true spirit of the game.
Final Result: Green Point CC v Pacific Hills CS It was a tight match with Pacific Hills victors on the day. |

The winners on the day were Nowra Anglican School who were undefeated while Sutherland finished in second place. The weather was great, the boys were well-behaved and it was another great day of sport and fellowship. It would be great to have more teams from the south of Sydney involved in future years.
Final Result: Nowra Anglican College - winners |
